In real installations, the connector body is rarely the weakest point. Most failures start at the cable-to-connector transition—where bending, pulling, vibration, and moisture gradually damage the jacket, loosen terminations, or compromise sealing.

That’s why “extra protection” matters. For harsh environments, the WEIPU SF Series can be configured with the right protection approach based on how the cable is used:

• IP sealing (e.g., IP67 when mated) to protect against dust and moisture
• Reinforced bend relief (anti-bending strain relief) to improve flex life at the cable exit
• Overmolded cable assembly as a higher-integration option that strengthens the cable joint (and typically includes strain relief)

(1) IP67 sealing: keep moisture and dust from becoming downtime

The SF Series is built for sealed connectivity in environments where splash, washdown, dust, and humidity are common. IP67 protection (when properly mated) helps protect contacts from contamination that can cause intermittent signals, corrosion, or unexpected disconnects—especially in outdoor equipment, mobile systems, and factory areas near coolant or cleaning processes.

What this helps prevent:

moisture ingress, dust contamination, corrosion-related instability, and reduced contact reliability over time.

(2) Anti-bending strain relief: protect the #1 failure point (cable exit)

Even with a strong connector, repeated bending at the cable outlet can lead to conductor fatigue, shielding damage, or internal loosening. Adding reinforced bend relief / strain relief is a simple but high-impact upgrade for applications with frequent cable movement.

For SF series cable plugs, reinforced bend relief helps:

• guide the cable into a safer bend radius
• reduce stress concentration at the cable-to-connector transition

(3) Overmolding option: the “upgrade path” for higher durability and cleaner builds

For applications that need stronger cable protection and more consistent assembly quality, WEIPU also offers SF overmolded cable assemblies. Overmolding is not only aesthetic—it reinforces the joint and typically provides integrated strain relief plus improved stability at the cable exit.

What overmolding improves:

• strengthens the joint to reduce failures from pulling, bending, and twisting

When overmolding is most valuable:
